Voters across Winnipeg are headed to the ballot box to cast their vote in Canada’s federal election.
Community centres, schools and other voting stations saw a steady flow of people participating in the vote, and CityNews Winnipeg captured some of the sights and sounds of democracy in action.
At many of the polling stations we stopped by, it seemed as though the process was moving quickly and smoothly ahead of polls closing at 8 p.m.

There was a steady trickle of voters at the St. John’s Leisure Centre on Aikens Street, with a polling attendant on site saying “it’s been busy all day.”

One voter who cast their ballot at 1010 Sinclair said they experienced “no wait” as they voted in Monday’s election at around lunch time.

A polling attendant at the Seven Oaks Sportsplex said there’s been a steady steam of voters at this location all day, but remarked it’s been a quick stop for everyone.

The All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church saw voters coming in spurts, said one polling attendant, who said while there are still lots of voters in attendance, there was a rush of voters on the morning of the election.

“Nothing like advanced voting,” said the polling attendant at the Transcona Retired Citizens Organization, who says there’s been a slow trickle at the voting site.
